Hannah is a Senior Lecturer in Public Health at the University of Sheffield, where her research critically examines socially patterned inequities in health and wellbeing, with a particular focus on children, young people, and families. She is driven by a commitment to understanding and addressing the environmental, social, and political factors that influence health. This stems from her upbringing in Sheffield, a city of contrasts in health and wealth, visiting family in Liverpool and through voluntary work in Cambridge with young mothers and with children in an underserved area of Paris.
Recent projects include exploring the effects of benefit changes on child health, families’ experiences of housing insecurity, and young people’s perspectives on health inequalities and their drivers.
Hannah is part of the leadership team for the NIHR School for Public Health Research Children, Young People and Families Programme. She also co-leads the Child of the North N8 Research Partnership for the University of Sheffield and serves as the Sheffield representative for Health Equity North, actively shaping public health initiatives and policy.
