Introducing our new co-leadership model

The Equality Trust introduces a co-leadership model and announces two Co-Executive Directors: Jo Wittams and Priya Sahni-Nicholas.

The Equality Trust, a leading charity working to improve the quality of life in the UK by dismantling structural inequalities, announced that it will be implementing a new co-director management model to lead the organisation into the future.

Under the new Co-Executive Director model, two Co-EDs will share the responsibilities of leading The Equality Trust, working collaboratively to set strategic direction, oversee day-to-day operations, and manage the organisation’s resources. This approach will provide a deeper level of leadership, and will allow for greater flexibility, creativity, and innovation.

“We are excited to announce this new co-executive director management model,” said Dr Fran Darlington-Pollock, Chair of the Board of Trustees. “We believe that this approach will bring a new level of strength and stability to our organisation, while also providing the necessary agility and adaptability to keep up with the rapidly changing landscape.”

The new Co-Executive Director model will go into effect on 27 March 2023. The two co-EDs who will take on this shared leadership role are Jo Wittams and Priya Sahni-Nicholas. Jo has been working at The Equality Trust since 2013 and brings with her a wealth of experience and knowledge in the sector. Priya joins the organisation from UK Flour Millers where she was Head of Communications.

“We are honoured and excited to take on this new challenge,” said Jo Wittams and Priya Sahni-Nicholas in a joint statement. “We believe that by working together, we can drive The Equality Trust’s mission: working to create a more equal society that works better for everyone.”

The Equality Trust is confident that this new co-director management model will strengthen the organisation’s position as a leader in the fight for equality and that it will enable the organisation to survive and thrive in the years ahead.
