Equality is a holistic goal. Inequality affects, and is affected by, so many overlapping areas of life that understanding it requires knowledge from every part of life.
That’s why we’re launching a series of videocasts with guest experts, thinkers, and activists from across the equality movement to explore their perspective on inequality in greater detail. From experts in health policy to local campaign leaders, we’re hoping to feature people with new perspectives and depth.

Episode 1: Hannah Paylor and the Impact of Collective Wellbeing
We’re used to measuring the UK’s performance against economic statistics like GDP, but how much can that actually tell you about life as it’s lived by people here – and how much does focus on it distort policy-making? We’re joined by Hannah Paylor from Carnegie UK to talk about the Life in the UK index, collective wellbeing, and the way life can change if governments start aiming to improve wellbeing instead.
Hannah Paylor is a senior policy advocate at Carnegie UK. Hannah manages the Life in the UK programme of work and Carnegie UK’s partnership with the Poverty Truth Network. She holds an MSc in Social Research and an MA in Social Anthropology.
