We are delighted to announce that The Equality Trust has been granted charitable status by the Charity Commission for England & Wales. Our registered number is: 1161545.

Our underlying legal structure since we started has been that of a not-for-profit company, limited by guarantee. This means that all our income has always been dedicated to the pursuit of our objectives. This legal structure does not change. We have simply acquired the additional status of being a charity because the Charity Commission recognises that our work to improve the quality of life in the UK, by reducing economic inequality, is charitable in purpose.

Charitable status will help us enormously as we seek to promote the evidence around the benefits of greater equality and we would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our supporters, affiliated local groups and funders for helping us to this stage. It is hugely appreciated.
